FTCE English 6-12 Essay Samples - How to Choose Which One is Right For Your Students
FTCE English 6-12 Essay Samples - How to Choose Which One is Right For Your StudentsAs a struggling English teacher, I often get asked, 'Do you have any FTCE English 6-12 essay samples to give my students?' I know the answer. I have lots of them and I always do. But, as a struggling English teacher, I'm always asking, 'How do I choose which one is right for my students?'Of course, there are different types of essays that I might be teaching, but all essays are not created equal. I often come across students who just want to do one test, no matter how much it costs, or who seem to think that if they take one test, their grades will rise.I often get into fights with students who believe that essay samples just magically appear in the classroom. And, many times, I'm right. After all, everyone wants to look good so they look at examples. But, to truly understand the content of the essay, and how it applies to your students, you must actually read the actual essay. The best way to do this is to read the essay yourself. Not only will this give you an understanding of what the essay is about, but it will also teach you about the student. If the student struggles with vocabulary, for example, then reading the essay will give you a better understanding of what they struggle with. This knowledge is crucial when you decide which essay sample to use.Students don't like to read long essays either. In fact, many students will not read the essay all the way through. This means that you will need to know how to prepare for the next part. Preparing for the next part can be done in several ways.If you read the first half of the essay, then you may not have to read the second half of the essay. But, if you read the entire essay, then you need to have some preparation time before reading the last half. You can make notes or draw diagrams, or even just practice with different topics. My conclusion? While FTCE English 6-12 essay samples do exist, you should not wait until you have a hu ge pile of them to choose. You'll get the same results as other teachers, if not better, if you read the essay yourself and prepare for the next steps before reading the final essay.
